The Edifier R1700BT active bookshelf speakers deliver 66W RMS of room-filling sound in a classic wooden enclosure, with Bluetooth 5.1, dual RCA inputs, and a remote control included as standard.

Powered by a built-in Class-D amplifier with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Dynamic Range Control (DRC), the R1700BT is engineered to reproduce music accurately across the full frequency range.

Each speaker base is angled at 10 degrees, directing sound directly towards the listener for a more focused, natural stereo image.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the Edifier R1700BT speakers need a separate amplifier?

No - the R1700BT are active (powered) bookshelf speakers with a built-in Class-D amplifier, so no external amplifier is needed. Simply connect your source, plug them into the mains, and they're ready to use.

Can I connect the R1700BT to a turntable?

The R1700BT have dual RCA inputs, which can accept a line-level audio signal. If your turntable has a built-in phono stage (or you're using an external phono preamp), you can connect it directly via RCA. Turntables without a phono stage will require a separate phono preamp between the deck and the speakers.

You get two RCA inputs, so you can also connect a CD player and switch between the two devices without having to unplug anything.

Can I connect two audio sources at the same time to the R1700BT?

Yes - the R1700BT feature two pairs of RCA inputs (labelled AUX IN and PC IN), allowing two sources to remain permanently connected. You can switch between them easily using the controls on the right panel or the included remote, without unplugging anything.

Are the Edifier R1700BT suitable for use on a desk?

The R1700BT work great in a desktop setup as well as on a sideboard or bookshelf. Each speaker features a 10-degree angled base that tilts the drivers upward, helping to direct sound towards ear level when the speakers are placed on a desk or low shelf. The included remote also makes volume and input control convenient from a seated position.

How does the R1700BT compare to the R1280DB?

The R1280DB and the R1700BT are two of Edifiers most popular models but it's usually fairly easy to choose between them if you know the main differences.

The R1700BT has more power, sounds better and louder than the R1280DB. This is due to the more powerful 66W amplifier (compared to 42W) and the improved cabinet design. If your priority is sound quality for use with Bluetooth, turntable and/or a CD player then choose the R1700BT.

The R1280DB has a more traditional all-round design, it's not quite as powerful so isn't as loud but the main difference is the digital optical and coax inputs. These are useful if you want to connect to a TV without needing any converters. If you want all-round flexibility then choose the R1280DB.

If you want the best of both worlds, more power with all the right inputs then look at the Edifier R1855DB instead. This combines the best parts of both speakers into one model.
